Welcome to India Class (6I). Here is our weekly timetable for the autumn term, although it may be subject to change. Our class book for September is Once by Morris Gleitzman.
Every day you should arrive with your planner, reading book, fun book and filled water bottle. Please ensure that your water bottle remains named, especially after washing. Thank you.
Our PE day is Friday. Children should arrive at school in their PE kits comprising black shorts, plain white t-shirts and black trainers. No items should have any branded logos please. Please remember that earrings cannot be worn for PE and should be removed at home if your child is unable to do this themselves. All long hair should be tied back for PE. A black tracksuit is also permitted. Even though the children arrive in their kits, please could you name each item. Thank you.
Homework - will be given out on a Monday. Homework comprises: Times Table Rockstars (at least 3 minutes per day across the week); spelling on Ed Shed; reading aloud at least three times a week (please record in your planner); a retrieval or project task (this will vary week on week) plus a SATS style practise of maths, GPS or reading comprehension. There is an opportunity to complete homework on a Wednesday lunch time at 12.35pm. If you are unable to complete your homework during the week, then there will be a Catch Up club on Tuesday lunchtime at 12.10pm. Homework should be returned the following Monday.

History - This project teaches children about the causes, events and consequences of the First and Second World Wars, the influence of new inventions on warfare, how life in Great Britain was affected and the legacy of the wars in the post-war period.
Geography - This essential skills and knowledge project revises the features of Earth, time zones and lines of latitude and longitude to pinpoint places on a map. Children find out more about map scales, grid references, contour lines and map symbols. They learn about climate change and the importance of global trade.
Art - This project teaches children about colour theory by studying the colour wheel and exploring mixing tints, shades and tones. They learn about significant World War landscape artworks by Paul Nash and features of landscapes before using this knowledge to create landscape paintings.
Science - This project teaches children about the transport role of the human circulatory system, its main parts and primary functions. They learn about healthy lifestyle choices and the effects of harmful substances on the body.
Music - This project teaches children the different foci of music relating to both World War I and World War II. They will be able to discuss musical eras in context, identifying how they have influenced each other, and discussing the impact of different composers on the development of musical styles.
