Building Learning Power
Building learning power is about:
- Helping young people become better learners
- Developing their portable learning power
- Preparing young people for a lifetime of learning
There are four R’s: Resourcefulness, Resilience, Reciprocity and Reflectiveness. There are key skills that children need to practice in order to develop the above qualities. These have been listed as questions in each classroom.

At Powers Hall Academy the children chose animals that represented each of the 4 R’s to help them focus on what it means to be resourceful, resilient etc. These are displayed in each learning area of the school so that the children can refer to them. In addition to this, teachers choose an area that they would like the children to focus on during Creative Links lessons and discuss how they can develop their skills. The skills are also becoming integrated into the Literacy and Numeracy as the children become more familiar with them.
