Please ensure clothing does not contain any branded logos. Additionally, please remember that earrings cannot be worn for PE and should be removed at home if your child is unable to do this themselves. Thank you.
Project
Our theme for the Spring term is a History topic called 'Ancient Civilisations'. This topic will teach children about the history of three of the World's first civilisations; Ancient Sumer, Ancient Egypt and the Indus Valley civilisation. Children will learn about the rise, life, achievements and eventual end of each civilisation.
English - Writing
The genre of narrative and non-fiction text types we will be studying this term have been chosen to suit our History project 'Ancient Civilisations'.
We integrate English across the curriculum. In each geography and history project, pupils are given four text types which are tailored to age-appropriate literacy objectives and build upon prior learning. The writing outcomes invite children to apply the knowledge they have gained in a history or geography project to a specific text type. In science and some other subjects, a range of technical and informative non-fiction texts are provided to promote ambitious reading across the curriculum.
Please see below an overview of the text types this term:
English - Reading
The children are very excited to get started with our reading book for this term. We will be exploring the world of How to Train your Dragon by Cressida Cowell. The children have already begun making links to our previous learning about Vikings and their prior knowledge of dragons!
Science
In Science this term we will be looking at electricity. The children will be learning about how electricity works and about the different appliances which are run by electricity. The children will get a chance to test their knowledge by creating their own circuits.
