PE
Argentina class will have PE on a Thursday afternoon and a Friday morning. Children will be required to come into school in their PE kit. PE kits must comprise of black shorts, white t-shirts and plain black trainers or plimsoles. During the colder months, black tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie may be worn. Please ensure clothing does not contain any branded logos. Additionally, please remember that earrings cannot be worn for PE and should be removed at home if your child is unable to do this themselves. Thank you.
Homework
Homework will run on a weekly basis (Monday to Monday). Each week, children will be expected to read at home on at least three separate occasions, practise their homework spellings and spend time practising their times tables on Times Table Rockstars. Please find below useful links to Times Table Rockstars, Spelling Shed and MyOn.
Geography
The class is currently exploring the geographical features of 'Misty Mountain and the Winding River'. The focus is on rivers and their stages, the water cycle, uses of rivers, flooding, and various physical features like deltas, floodplains, and waterfalls. Additionally, the study extends to mountainous regions, discussing altitudinal zones and contour lines on maps. The types of mountains, including fold mountains, volcanic mountains, and plateau mountains, are highlighted, with the Himalayas serving as an example. Overall, the information provides a comprehensive understanding of river systems, their interactions with landscapes, and the impact of mountainous features on geographical characteristics. Students will gain insights into the dynamic processes that shape our environments and the significance of these features for human settlements and activities.
Science
In Science this term we will be looking at "States of Matter." This involves an exploration of the unique properties defining solids, liquids, and gases, as well as an understanding of the particle theory governing their characteristics. The curriculum covers the dynamic processes of changing states—melting, freezing, evaporation, and condensation—highlighting the reversible nature of these transformations. The focus extends to the various states of water on Earth, with a specific examination of melting and boiling points. Additionally, students are introduced to temperature measurement using the Celsius scale and the graphical representation of data through line graphs. This comprehensive exploration forms the basis for a deeper understanding of the fundamental principles underlying the states of matter and their transitions.
