Learning in the the Summer Term
Our theme for the spring term is a history topic entitled "Emperors and Empires". This project teaches children about the history and structure of ancient Rome and the Roman Empire, including a detailed exploration of the Romanisation of Britain.
Knowledge organiser
The genre of narrative and non-fiction text types we will be studying this term have been chosen to suit our history project 'Emperors and Empires'.
We integrate English across the curriculum. In each geography and history project, pupils are given four text types which are tailored to age-appropriate literacy objectives and build upon prior learning. The writing outcomes invite children to apply the knowledge they have gained in a history or geography project to a specific text type. In science and some other subjects, a range of technical and informative non-fiction texts are provided to promote ambitious reading across the curriculum.
Our linked class book will be 'Romans on the Rampage' by Jeremy Strong.
When Do I Have P.E.?
Our PE days are Monday and Tuesday. Children must arrive at school in their PE kits compromising plain black shorts, white t-shirts and plain black plimsols/trainers. Dark, plain tracksuit bottoms and hoodie may also be worn when the weather is colder - no branded logos please.
Even though children will be arriving in their kits, please ensure that EVERYTHING is still named. Please remember that earrings cannot be worn for PE and should be removed at home if your child is unable to do this themselves. Long hair should also be tied up. Thank you.
Key Skills Lessons
Kenya Class have Key skills on Monday mornings. Key skills mornings consist of 3 lessons: Computing, P.E. and music.
